Revitalization through adaptive reuse; A project to conserve six heritage houses in the old city of Ahmedabad, the first UNESCO 'World Heritage City' in India

dESIGN 17.jpg

A decades long project to conserve six heritage homes within the old city of Ahmedabad through repairs, restorations and new additions. The goal is to revive dead and dilapidated buildings into something that is invigorating and useful through adaptive reuse.

To be pragmatic; revive the methods of old to aid for a better future.

A chance purchase of an ancestral property in Jethabhai ni pol, Ahmedabad led to several decades worth of work to conserve the traditional houses or havelis.

Our ancestral home amalgamated with adjoining 'heritage' properties to form one large haveli with a variety of uses.
